Since 2010 we have been developing Geospatial Technology at Bronx Community College and the City University of New York. We have delivered campus wide awareness/information sessions, workshops, written pathways courses, published text books that were written with a place-based approach, engaged in focused cutting edge research, collaborated with universities and institutions globally, submitted grant proposals to federal and private agencies with a high success ratio, collaborated with an Industry consortium, worked with CUNY central offices and the community, and most importantly focused all our energies and activities on our students who are at the epicenter of all our actions. Students at BCC and CUNY have the option of learning spatial concepts and acquiring hands-on skills at the BCC Geospatial Center of the CUNY CREST Institute [BGCCCI]. The center is currently funded by the National Aeronautical Space Administration-MISTC and National Science foundation's Advanced Technological Education [NSF-ATE] programs.
Personally for me who arrived in U.S. shores from the Land Down Under the development and launch of BGCCCI is a life time legacy and something that I will always cherish. Whatever we do if we don't mean it from our heart we will not bring positive change.
