The grant will fund major initiatives in geospatial technology and its application to STEM disciplines. It will engage students from schools and colleges, researchers, educators and the industry to create a task force that will expose, enthuse, train, mentor students and educators in the New York City region in applied geospatial technology. All-year-round inquiry-based workshops will be developed and delivered at the state-of-the-art BCC Geospatial Center of the CUNY CREST Institute (BGCCCI) and STEM labs at Medgar Evers college. Summer workforce research internships will engage participants in focused cutting-edge research in applied geomatics. The ultimate objective is to create workforce skills that will drive America's economy forward and sustain its global dominance in technology.
