SNOW STORM +COVID-19 DELIVERS ECONOMIC BLOW TO TEXAS

The power is back on for most Texas residents, but the winter blast has left millions with unprecedented storm damage. Massive electricity bills, broken water pipes and flooding could leave many in financial turmoil. At the BCC Geospatial Center of the CUNY CREST Institute [BGCCCI] we are constantly working with time series of spaceborne multi-resolution imagery and innovative algorithms to better understand the short-term and long term damage to the community in Texas. Imagine braving the cold weather and COVID-19 together. No wonder many Texans burnt their own furniture and wooden toys to keep them and families warm.
